Here it is almost midnight on a Friday night. I've just completed a 12 hour journey in establishing yet another website for the Salvagno's family of companies. Ironic but the first company we started, was the last to get my personal attention in creating a new site!
I would have done it a lot sooner, but I was remiss and lazy, and took the bait when Teleflora offered to create a site for us in 2005. Back then, I hardly knew how to search the web, much less create a website. So, I took the easy way out, and said "Yes" when Teleflora came to me with their generous offer to build a site for a mere $75 per month. Seemed like a bargain at the time.
Unfortunately things don't always turn out to be what they seem. I wasn't very savy on cyber issues, but I was smart enough to inquire, and was assured by Teleflora, that although they would "administer" my site, I would retain control of and own my domain, my name, if ever I were to leave Teleflora. Like a sucker, I bought it.
Now, seven years later, Teleflora and I have parted ways. If I were to tell you the ridiculous fees they charged for this itty-bitty shop in this itty-bitty town, you would laugh. I would have laughed, if it weren't that I was crying! Anyway, I won't bore you with the details, but I am happy to say I will never, ever again get another bill from Teleflora stating that I owe THEM money after filling all of their many orders in this town.
So, here I sit building my site. Only problem is, Teleflora lied. As administrators, they have stolen my domain name ... that's right, they pirated my salvagnos.com, and are sending MY customers on down the road to another shop that I will refrain from naming. Is that rotten or what? I knew I was losing my shirt with Teleflora, but I never dreamed I would lose my name.
So, here it is. My first attempt at a new site, in a new era. A beautiful site, I must say, even if it is a bit simple. At least it's mine, and in time, it will be all mine as we begin taking photos of our exceptional work so that eventually ALL of the photos of flowers, gift baskets, cookie and candy bouquets, and more, are photos of creations that are all our own. I can't wait.
So, I see you've found me ... in spite of Teleflora's plundering. I thank you for your business ... I thank you for your support ... and most of all, I thank you for your friendship. Drop in and say "Hi" anytime you want! I'll be here!
